There was a moment
I saw myself join myself
a coming together
two halves
became one
jolting me out of
my complacency
in the living moment
a shock of life now
seeing the reality
of myself
in this universe
of time
difficult to stay
wanting to turn away
it felt like
meeting
death
for a moment
In life
or meeting life
in its depth.

I am soon to be 75 years old. I have a huge collection of cookbooks as I started working in restaurants when I was young, then cooking in restaurants and finally opening my own place. I have loved gardening and have had many gardens, even in the city of Toronto as for years I had a plot in a community garden. I have been going through my collection of cookbooks to give to younger members of what I will call my family, as I have at least 600, and I came across “the organic zucchini” This charming little book once again delighted, giving me a much-needed laugh. I then did a search and discovered this wonderful recent poem. I just wanted to thank you. It can be quite funny how life can connect dots. I hope you are well.
